caitlin elizabeth photography | stacy & caroline ~ sister session | williamsburg portrait photographer

when stacy contacted me about doing a sister session i squealed with excitement!
sisters have a special kind of love, and this pair doesn't disappoint - not to mention the fact that they're also TRIBE sisters!  stacy graduated from william and mary 2 years ago and caroline is a freshman... she lives in yates! just like i did!! stacy is a dupont-ian, but we don't hold it against her ;)

i had to giggle a little because as i was commenting on how pretty they looked in their dresses caroline immediately retorted that stacy made her wear it! and that she really didn't like dressing up at all... or taking pictures!  i assured her that this wasn't going to be a studio portrait session feel - we were going to frolic and play and laugh and just be ourselves! *generally that consists of me making a fool out of myself... but whatever haha

so i started metering and told them to 'hold each other's hands and walk'
and they were adorable right off the bat ;)

the looks that sisters give each other are priceless... i know them well!

aaaand i'm in love.

cuties :) i heart laughter

it didn't take much convincing to get caroline out of that dress and into jean shorts and a tank - stacy and i hung out and took a few photos while she was changing!

model. status.

ohhhhh caroline :) i ADORE this picture of you!

and we'll end with these :)

aaaaaaand.... last, but not least...
the announcement i hinted at yesterday:

that's right... MOVING!

if you book a session between now and next wednesday (may 16th) you will get 2 5x7 prints and one 11x14 print as my 'going away present' to you!

this friday and saturday are already filled, don't miss out!

caitlin elizabeth photography | adrienne ~ william and mary senior | williamsburg portrait photographer

adrienne.

i don't even know where to begin this post.

i guess i should start with a gargantuan THANK YOU.
thank you for waking up at the crack of dawn to sit in dewy grass and discuss the finer things of our existence: being happy.
thank you for reminding me why i love this so much.
thank you for being as beautiful and awe-inspiring inside as you are out.

you're so full of life and energy - really a force to be reckoned with.
your infectious laughter and self-less nature are over-whelming.
and your abilities to understand and relate go unmatched.

not to mention the fact that you're drop. dead. gorgeous.

so thank you.

for frolicking with me.

and for reminding me why.

~

i was PUMPED when adrienne contacted me after i advertised for my william and mary mini sessions. but i was even MORE thrilled when she said 'but i don't want a mini session - i want the full on caitlin elizabeth photography experience' - this is my kind of woman ;)  mini sessions are great, but full portrait sessions give us a little more time to get comfortable and to really explore you as a subject.  it's amazing the variety of images that i get out of a full portrait session as opposed to a mini session!

i just had to start off this post with a black and white - because to me black and whites make you truly focus on the subject.
you aren't distracted by the green of the background or the poppin' color of her accessories,
instead you have to look at her.
it simplifies the complicated.
and draws your attention where it's truly warranted:

mama was in the room while i formatted these for the blog post - she kept saying: she's just so pretty.

and she's right - you are absolutely breath-taking!

and adorable.

I DIE. seriously. those eyes!!

no w&m session is complete without a few posed photos with the man who made UVA possible:

and then she let her hair down ;) LAWD have mercy!

and i will end with this - because it really encompasses adrienne:
beauty in its truest and simplest form...
no fussy posing or unnatural embellishments.
just pure, unadulterated gorgeousness radiating from her very existence.

[hark!]

caitlin elizabeth photography | kate - william and mary senior | williamsburg portrait photographer

kate and kelsey were roommates on our tour de italia that fateful summer...
I WAS SURROUNDED BY SUCH ATTRACTIVE PEOPLE :]
and there were only 4 guys on the trip... dear male population at the w&m: YOU SERIOUSLY MISSED OUT because not only is kate another gorgeous william and mary grad, but she's also genuine and sweet.

she claimed to not know what she was doing,
but her unassuming gestures quickly became snapshots of her darling nature.

enjoy :)

she's definitely laughing AT me...

see?! i told you: darling :)

tj is a real ladies man!

whoa kate - don't go throwing this look around anywhere... it could be dangerous ;)

kate, photographing you and being able to catch up really did my heart good :)

much love - and hark upon the gale!

caitlin elizabeth photography | williamsburg portrait photographer | sister session

things are starting to get a little crazy around here, but it's a good thing :)  last weekend was william and mary's young guarde celebration so hanging out in the 'burg was on the agenda.

photographing a super sweet sister set was too!  and here's a little preview of the goodness to come:

(williamsburg minis: i haven't forgotten about you - you'll each get your own blogpost!!)

caitlin elizabeth photography | surry, virginia portrait photographer

when i first went to will's house i was AMAZED by how many pictures there were of him on the walls/furniture.
from toddler to high school senior, his childhood was WELL documented.

but after those quintessential senior portraits (you know the ones i'm talking about: bad haircut, even worse blue background with those grey streak looking things, fake tux...) there weren't any more photos - well, except the one of will and his dad with the deer will shot last fall (15 pointer - GET SOME) but that one doesn't count because it's little.

so on our way home from williamsburg (my weekend was full of mini sessions for william and mary's class of 2012)
while driving through surry, va i yelled for him to pull over -
and to go stand in a field so i could snag a few portraits of him.

he's a keeper ;)

don't tell his mama, but i ordered this black and white one in a canvas for her for mother's day ;)

now, i might be slightly biased, but i think he's so good lookin'!

will: caitlin! i'm gonna have ticks all over me!
me: stop complaining - children are easier to photograph than you!

;)

caitlin elizabeth photography | adventuring

monday i traveled deep into the virginian countryside to visit (relatively) new friends.

we ate.

fresh turkey - caught that morning - snaps, corn pudding and sweet tea.

we talked.

photography. men wearing dresses. and the expense of higher education.

we played.

a half clothed youngin with to-die-for red curls winked at me from across the table.
her brother told of monsters in the backyard and slipped out from his chair to explored under the table,
waiting for his nourishment to cool.

i reveled in the experience.

the world would be a happier place if this were everyone's everyday:

thank you for letting me play jennifer :)

these images were taken with jennifer's canon 5dmkii - and i am SO PUMPED to make the jump to full frame oh-so-soon!

caitlin elizabeth photography | why i stay BEHIND the camera

jennifer of warthan farms photography took some head shots of me a little over a month ago,
but generally i try and stay BEHIND the camera.

why?

^ case. in. point.

these were snapped by dex this past weekend before the spring football game at william and mary - i was in town doing MINI SESSIONS for william and mary seniors (sneak peeks are posted on facebook!) and here's a couple to tide you over until i get the rest out:
